Every four years, the Thetford Volunteer Fire Department conducts a "mock crash" at Thetford Academy.   The purpose of this event is to show the students what is involved in a severe motor vehicle crash, the steps involved to remove and treat patients, and the consequences of distracted and impaired driving.  This event coincides with a morning assembly at the school in which a guest speaker presents their experiences with impaired and distracted driving.  This is a powerful event that has had lasting effects on our students.  4-5 students are also chosen to play the part of patients, complete with special effects makeup to simulate injuries.  Our most recent event at TA was May 8. 2015.
