6-Wheelers
In late 2015, we purchased a new Polaris 6-wheeler for the purposes of back country search and rescue, assistance at brush fires, and any other emergency at which access by a larger vehicle is difficult or not possible. This unit has a custom built patient compartment in the back which allows for an EMT attendant to sit while riding and safely manage a patient.
The older 6-wheeler is a Polaris unit also has tracks (that were purchased through a grant) that are put on in the winter allowing for full operation in snow and ice. This type of apparatus has been requested for many mutual aid emergencies as well due to its ability to access difficult locations. Both 6-wheelers are housed at our Thetford Hill station.
