In a community-wide emergency, or severe weather event, the fire department may need to get critical information to members of our community quickly. One way we can do this is through our regional dispatch agency's notification service. Our regional dispatch center, (based in Hanover NH) is changing the service it utilizes for this emergency notification away from the previously used Code Red service.
Hanover Dispatch is transitioning to a new emergency notification system called Genasys to provide important emergency messages to residents. If you were previously enrolled to receive alerts by email, text, or phone in the legacy system (CodeRED) before September 26, 2023 you will automatically be added into the new system. If you have not signed up, or if you would like to update or confirm your registration information, please go to handisp.genasys.com/portal. You can also download the Genasys Protect mobile app to receive information on your mobile devices. This is provided free of charge to our community through Hanover Dispatch. Please remember, these systems are only as good as the telephone number database supporting them. If your phone number is not in the database, you will not be called. We work hard to keep our community safe and provide the most up-to-date emergency information possible. You can help us by registering your phone number with our notification service so you can be sure to receive emergency messages. We respect your privacy and will only use this service in a true emergency. |
