Knox Box Information

Key boxes help to protect your property. During an emergency, a building key gives fire departments immediate entry without damage to your property. This also means doors can be re-locked after the emergency is over. It is impractical and a safety concern for the fire department to carry keys for each building in town.
The Thetford Volunteer Fire Department uses the Knox-Box Rapid Entry System, which provides a variety of proven protection methods for both commercial and residential properties – including systems allowing access through property gates. These boxes are mounted near an outside entrance and can hold building keys, electronic access cards, fire alarm panel keys and vital emergency information. The Fire Department access the boxes with a master key that is kept securely on responding apparatus. The Thetford Volunteer Fire Department is the only authorized agency to request and carry this master key. Additionally, only the authorized Fire Department representative is able to request an additional master key which maintains the security of these systems.
If you are purchasing a Knox-Box or Knox-Vault system, the box/vault will be sent directly to you for installation. Knox Boxes may be ordered online at http://knoxbox.com. We will visit your building and assist you with the best location for the box if you have questions as to where to mount the box.
The Knox Company has been providing these boxes for more than 25 years, and more than 7,000 fire departments use them. We do not profit from their sale. The only purpose in our recommending these systems is to guarantee ready access to your property for the purposes of fire suppression or emergency medical response.
